Rainforest Information
This
section of Red Jellyfish is a nerve center of information, links and
resources about rainforests.
Rainforests cover only 2% of the planet, yet produce over 20% of our oxygen. They are also the source of many important medicines and foods, such as chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, bananas and oranges. Visit our rainforest facts section for more information.
Despite their amazing beauty and diversity, the rainforests are being destroyed at the rate of a football field per second. That's right -- we lose over 50 million acres of rainforest every year. At this rate, they will be almost completely destroyed in the next 40 years. We have much more information about this in our rainforest destruction area.
Tropical
Rainforests are also a fantastic place to visit! In fact, eco-tourism is
one of the best hopes for the survival of the rainforest. We have
therefore put together a
